Looking dead for awhile, after a few days these snails "woke up." They are all over the tank cleaning up a diatom bloom. |

Large Cerith Snails |

Many of these are more than an inch long. They stayed put until the morning after I acclimated them and added to my tank. Then they headed for the sand. A small hermit crab of unknown species came as a hitch hiker, wearing a Cerith snail shell. He looks like a "reef safe" good scavenger. I am curious to know what kind of crab it is. It might be a "dwarf zebra" hermit, one of the best of all algae-eating, "reef sage" hermits. |
