  • Each 1oz portion of Brine Shrimp comes with 24oz of Saltwater.

Our Live Adult Brine Shrimp are an aquaculture product raised in the United States. They range in size from 3/16" - 1/4" and are reddish brown in color.

Live Brine Shrimp (Artemia salina)make feeding picky eaters a little easier - however it should be noted that the protein content of brine shrimp is low, therefore additional food source for protein consumption is recommended. Many animals like seahorses, pipefish, mandarinfish and other dragonets will enjoy this treat on a regular basis. Before feeding Adult Brine Shrimp it is recommended to enrich them with a vitamin supplement such as Selcon that is high in HUFA and other fatty acids, a few hours before feeding aquarium fish to increase their nutritional value.

Brine Shrimp are non-selective, filter feeding invertebrates, and consume algae, bacteria, diatoms, and microbes. To maintain long term, keep in a small aquarium or 5-gallon bucket by themselves with an air-driven sponge filter. Live Brine Shrimp should be fed liquid Phytoplankton or Brine Shrimp Food when maintaining these animals for more than a few days. For short term storage, keeping them in the unopened bag (there is enough pure oxygen sealed in the bag for 3 days) and placing the bag in a 40°F refrigerator works well. At this temperature they will slow down their metabolism and require very little oxygen.
